Texas Instruments is showing off a new Windows 8 based ARM tablet at
this weeks CES, and whilst the device doesn’t as yet have a name, what
we do know is that it is powered by a TI OMAP4470 processor.
The
OMAP4470 platform’s smart multicore architecture pairs its
main CPUs
with several differentiated features including programmable
accelerators, hardware composition engines and a dedicated ISP.
Imagination Technologies’ super-fast PowerVR SGX544 GPU and enhanced
memory architecture add still more functionality while an OMAP-specific
distributed composition architecture enables advanced image and video layering for crisp, HD visuals.
The TI OMAP 4470 processor is a dual core 1.7GHz processor and Texas Instruments are expecting Windows 8 tablets to ship with this type of processor.
