Intel has announced that it will offer CPU insurance on a range of
its unlocked Core i-processors, which means if you burn out your
processor whilst overclocking it and have the insurance Intel will
replace it.
There are five different models covered by the Intel
CPU insurance
, and prices start at $20 for the Intel Core i5 2500K up to
$35 for their latest Core i7 3960X processor.
The
CPU insurance is on top of Intel’s standard three year warranty that
comes when you purchase a new processor, and you can see the full list
of processors covered, along with their pricing below.

We
suspect that Intel doesn’t expect to have to replace many processors,
and you can buy the policy up to one year after you buy your processor
and it will last for three years.
