iPad mini bill of materials suggest that Apple would price tablet at $299

By now we can be pretty certain that Apple is planning to unveil an iPad mini. This smaller, more compact, 7.85-inch tablet is likely going to have a separate event in October. Where is smoke there should be fire after all.
With the arrival of $199 7-inch tablets like the Nexus 7 and the Kindle Fire, there is a new price point where Apple needs a competing product of their own. But how much will the iPad mini cost? They have to compete and still make money. One school of thought is that if we look at the bill of materials for the Nexus 7 and the Kindle Fire, Apple should price it at about $299.

When you compare all of the parts and price it all out, that seems like a safe bet. Hopefully it will be even cheaper, but we will have to wait and see.
